Pre-Algebra Proficiency Program

Overview

The Catchup Math Pre-Algebra Proficiency Program reviews the course content covered in Pre-Algebra textbooks and is divided into six sequential sections. Pre-tests (quizzes) are given for each section, and students are assigned lessons based on incorrect answers. Re-teaching includes text lessons (in both English and Spanish), videos, activities, and practice problems with tutorial solutions. A student takes repeat quizzes and receives lesson-prescriptions until passing each section. Teachers can review student work written on our online whiteboard. Material from earlier courses and sections is often included and even repeated.

Section 1

Absolute Value, Adding and Subtracting Negatives, Graphing on the Coordinate Plane, Inequalities, Integers, Mean, Median and Mode, Multiplying a Fraction by a Fraction, Multiplying and Dividing with Negatives, Number Line, Order of Operations, Simplest Form of a Fraction, Word Problems.

Section 2

Adding and Subtracting Decimals, Divisibility Tests, Exponents, Ordered Pair, Perimeter, Product of Powers Property, Properties of Multiplication, Reciprocals, Rectangle, Scientific Notation, Segment Addition Postulate, Solving Linear Equations, Solving One-Step Linear Equations, Word Problems.

Section 3

Adding and Subtracting Fractions, Box and Whisker Plots, Circle, Greatest Common Factors, Interquartile, Mixed Numbers, Percent, Prime Factorization, Proportions, Range of Data, Simple Interest, Stem and Leaf Plots.

Section 4

30-60-90 Triangles, 45-45-90 Triangles, Combinations, Comparing Fractions, Fractions, Multiplying a Fraction by a Fraction, Permutations, Pythagorean Theorem, Reciprocals, Slope, Square Roots, Surface Area of a Cylinder, Surface Area of a Prism.

Section 5

Adding and Subtracting Fractions, Cross Products, Direct Variation, Graphing Linear Inequalities in Two Variables, Least Common Denominator (LCD), Ordered Pair, Percent, Percent Increase and Decrease, Proportions, Similar Figures, Slope, Solving Linear Inequalities, Systems of Linear Inequalities, Word Problems.

Section 6

Circle, Combining Like Terms, Complementary Angles, Cylinder, Distance Formula, Midpoint Formula, Polygon Interior Angles Sum Theorem, Rectangle, Solving Linear Equations, Solving One-Step Linear Equations, Square, Square Roots, Supplementary Angles, Word Problems.
